Responsible home owners make a tremendous impact on the quality of life in our communities, and we want to help more people realize their dreams of a better life. Our two grants are designed for qualified borrowers who need extra assistance when buying a home.


For Qualified First-Time Homebuyers

  • Up to $5,000 per household
  • Homebuyer must contribute at least $1,000 toward the home purchase
  • Complete a homebuyer education and financial literacy course specified by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta

For Qualified Veterans and Returning Veterans

  • Up to $10,000 per household available to veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. military, their spouse, or their surviving spouse
  • No homebuyer minimum contributions required
  • Complete a homebuyer education and financial literacy course specified by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta

For People Serving Our Local Communities

  • Up to $7,500 per household for current or retired law enforcement officers, public school educators, firefighters, heath care workers and other first responders
  • First-time and non-first-time homebuyers are eligible
  • Homebuyer must contribute at least $1,000 toward the home purchase
  • Complete a homebuyer education and financial literacy course specified by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta

As a member bank of FHLBank Atlanta, Atlantic Union Bank offers the FHLBank’s Homeowner Assistance Products listed above. Total individual household income may not exceed 80% of the county area or state medium income and other eligibility requirements apply by Product so please consult your Mortgage Loan Officer for complete details. In addition to contributing minimum funds as required by Product, borrowers must also: 1) occupy the home as a primary residence; and 2) complete a homebuyer education and financial literacy course meeting the requirements of the program. Failure to own and occupy the property for five years could result in the recapture of funds on a pro rata basis. Funds are disbursed on a first-come, first serve, homebuyer-by-homebuyer basis. Other restrictions may apply.
