Maria Tedesco

I am a goal-oriented person in everything I do, both personally and professionally. Setting goals motivates and inspires me. Growing up in Boston and working in my father’s restaurant, I saw the importance of hard work, taking care of the customer, and caring deeply about people.

I am thrilled to join Atlantic Union Bank because of the leadership, culture, and the opportunity to make a difference.  I wanted to be part of a great growth story that the community, customers, teammates and shareholders will be proud of. Atlantic Union Bank has a great reputation, top-tier performance and the mindset for growth. And with my 30+ years of experience, I am well aware of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Before joining Atlantic Union Bank, I was the Chief Operating Officer for the U.S. Retail and Business Banking lines at BMO Harris Bank, and enjoyed my time living in Chicago. I also worked at three different banks in the Boston area, starting my career at BayBank Harvard Trust, a small community bank in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and moving on to increasingly larger roles at Citizens and Santander. I was fortunate that very early in my career, strong mentors recognized my passion for the industry, and I now enjoy being a mentor to others. I am drawn to banking because it is a great way to help people achieve their dreams of owning a home and saving for the future.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two 20-something daughters. They are just starting out in their careers, and I love seeing them set goals and achieve them. I also have served various charitable and professional organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America and the Consumer Bankers Association. As an avid bicyclist, I am looking forward to biking the hills of Virginia. 

I graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and accounting and earned my MBA from Northeastern University.
